postheadericon America – Back In Time – Part II

I guess if you are in Philly you must go see the Liberty Bell.

What a great job our National Park Service did with this view.  The Rangers at the Bell were very friendy and made the visit informative and fun.  Thanks guys.

postheadericon America – Back In Time

On a recent trip to Philly I took the opportunity to go downtown and take in some American History.  If I had a bucket list this place would certainly be on the list.  Independence Hall.  I was in awe of the history and the presence of such great American leaders that used this place to form the principles of our great nation.

Hope you enjoy the photo.  I will be posting more from my trip in the next few days.

postheadericon Astro Orbitor – Glowing

I love the Magic Kingdom at night and some of the best colors and photo  ops are in Tomorrowland.  When he was younger my son loved the Astro Orbitor.  It was one of his favorite rides, so I have always tried to collect as many pictures as possible.

Late one evening when the park was near closing I decided to experiment with a few photos taken in several different locations.  This image is taken near the Tomorrowland Speedway using my Nikon D700 and a 300mm lens at f/4.  The exposure time is set for 8 seconds.

So what do you think?  Want to see more?

postheadericon Hard to Believe

This picture was taken back in the summer of 2006.  We were on a trip to Estes Park and RMNP.  My wife and son had the idea that we would go fly fishing.  I am not a fisherman but said sure.  Love it.  Fly Fishing is a completely different world and my son turned out to be pretty good at it.

Now the reason I am posting is not for the quality of the photo but because I just say this photo and recognized that today my son completed 10th grade.  It is hard to believe that he will be a junior in high school.

Where did my little fisherman go?  I guess he is growing up just like the rest of us did at one point in time.

postheadericon Elk Calling

When I look at this picture I can hear the sound of this Bull Elk calling to his heard.  And they responded.  What a beautiful animal just laying and waiting me to take his picture.

This photo was taken near sunset with my Nikon D700.  I was using a 600mm lens and a tripod.  No other way than a tripod to hold that big lens still.

I need to find a way to make another trip to the mountains in the falls so I can see these majestic creatures.  Have a blessed day!

postheadericon The Color of Illuminations

Just love the colors of the Illumination Pavillion at night.  This was captured back in September 2009 using a Nikon D700 and a 17-35mm Nikon lens with a 20mm focal length.  This was a handheld shot so the ISO was at 4000.

Looks pretty good for that high and ISO.

Let me know what you think!

postheadericon Sailing in Bermuda

While on a business trip to Bermuda, I had the opportunity to ride the ferry back and forth between my clients office and the hotel.  On the ride there are numerous groupings of sailboats, and watercraft.  One afternoon while riding back to the hotel I noticed this beautiful yellow sailboat.  The colors just jumped off the building behind, the blue skies and of course the little yellow sailboat in the foreground.

Take a trip to Bermuda someday.  You will love the beauty.  Both natural and man-made.

This photo was taken with a Nikon D700 using an 80-200mm f/2.8 lens.  I was also using a circular polarizing filter and hood to deal with wonderfully strange elements of light in Bermuda.

I love this photo and the memory of my trips to Bermuda.

postheadericon Flowers on the Green

A few days ago I was looking into the backyard and saw the sun shinning in quite a spectacular way on the daylillies in my backyard.  Of course I thought this would be a great opportunity to drag out the camera and take a few shots.  Which I did.  I also took out my SB-600 flash to use as a remote flash to fill in some of the darker areas and provide good light balance on a few photos.  The effect even surprised me as a saw the results.  I also pulled out my 105mm macro to do a little close up work.

It just amazed me when God presents such an opportunity to capture the beauty of the world that surrounds us.  Much of the time I think about exotic trips to take nature photos or to look at landscapes.  Yet some of my favorites come from my own backyard.

postheadericon Let’s Begin

Photographing life around me has been a passion since I received my first camera as a gift on my 14th birthday.  I was so excited because right after I got that camera I found out we were going to take a family trip to Disney World.  Now that was back in 1976.  What a great adventure.  Unfortunatly along the way, my camera was stolen out of our hotel room and I lost all those amazing original photos of my first trip to Disney World.  But before that trip I was fortunate enough to take a school trip to Washington D.C.  Still have those photos.

I love the idea of capturing images and moments.  Moments for me to remember and to share with my family, my friends and people that I meet.  So the entire idea of this site is to share my experiences and journeys through the images of God’s world around us.  I hope you enjoy what I see through the lens and look forward to your comments and encouragement.

Have a blessed day!  See you through the lens and around the world!
